Dr. Seuss Quotes

In my opinion, I believe Dr. Seuss has be all time best quotes. Right behind Kurt Vonnegut. Way random combination of quote obsessions, I am aware!

Here are my favorite ones!!!

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

My Students Say The Darndest Things

Except this time it isn't the funny version.......

One of my students had been absent for 2 weeks.....yes, 2 WEEKS.

She had finally turned in her makeup work the previous Friday. On Friday, she comes asking for her grade. I tell her

me-"I don't have an accurate grade because I haven't graded all your work yet."
her-"I really need that grade miss."
me- "Well, I am sorry. (pointing to the massive pile of papers to be graded) As you can see I have a huge stack and I am slowly making my way through it all"
her- "Isn't it your job to grade our papers?"
me- (I am going to kill a child!!!) "No, it is my job to teach you. Which, I have done all week and haven't had the time to grade your makeup work."

UFIWIUBWUIRVNWNCVWIE

The nerve of that kiddo. She really thought that it was my job to grade her MAKEUP work in a timely fashion. I understand, that it had been a week but it is the end of the 6 weeks. I have huge stacks of things to grade and only a 45 minute planning period to do it!!!!!

Most of the time, I love my students. On Friday, I wanted to bang my head against the wall!

Day #10

Day Ten
Me!!!!

It is just a picture of me!
I really need to invest in a new camera!
My self-picture skills need improvement badly; I realize this!

This is my brother's bathroom now. I posted quotes on the mirror to look at every morning, and apparently my brother likes them because my favorite one is still up! 4 months after I moved out lol

Mind.....If you would kindy shut up!!!

I am one of those people, who for some reason cannot shut off her mind. I tend to over-think almost every aspect of my life. It is something that I really dislike about myself. I can never just let the problems go for the day. Sitting in my bed at night analyzing how something could be done different is one of my nightly hobbies, hahaha, ya right. One of my favorite books is Eat, Pray, Love and her mind seems to work in about the same way as mine. And should I mention my love of quotes!!!

“I am burdened with what the Buddhists call the 'monkey mind' -- the thoughts that swing from limb to limb, stopping only to scratch themselves, spit and howl.”
Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

So mind if you would kindly take a breather for the night so I can get some sleep. Please and thank you, Lauren.

Last Year vs. This Year

I graduated with my undergraduate degree in four years. I had this great plan to move and become a teacher. When the time came for the plan to start; I freaked out. So, I convinced my parents and myself that staying to get my masters was a better plan then growing up. I was happy about my choice until about this time last year.

I felt stuck. Stephenville and Tarleton had been my home for 4 1/2 years. I could not bare to leave a little over a year before and now I was finding every reason to bail on the weekends. I, in turn, became very depressed. Some of my best friends had big girl jobs, handsome boyfriends, and good lives. While I was stuck in the same town, with the same people, and the same crap. Do not get me wrong, I had fabulous girlfriends but I was in a serious rut. I started feeling guilty for being depressed. What was really hard about my life? Why are you depressed, when you want for nothing, have good friends, and have a job? It was a never-ending debate in my head. I started making plans to leave. I tried to finish my masters as quick as I could so I could walk away fulfilling my plan. I found a job in Fort Worth, and haven't looked back since.

A year later, I am content with my life in a way I haven't been in years. I have amazing friends, a great boyfriend, and a job that fulfills me. I did not even realize that this type of happiness was out there. Last year, I was just so unfulfilled with the life that I was leading that I could not make myself happy. I needed a full busy life to be happy. That is what I have now and I wouldn't change it for anything! If you were wondering I did not finish my masters. I will be finishing it this summer in SCOTLAND!!! Yes, like the country. I will be there for 5 1/2 weeks. I am pumped!

Day #9

Two Songs

This topic could go so many ways. Do I put my favorite songs? My favorite songs right now? Or do I just put great songs?

.....................

One favorite song right now. One all time favorite song.

Now Song

Good Life - One Republic

This song reminds me that I have an awesome life and I should be thankful.

Black - Pearl Jam

I can remember my Dad singing this song in his truck. It is also, just a great song.

Workin' For The Weekend

Dance through the day people.........it is ALMOST the weekend!!!!!

Yay, 80's music!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on, admit, you are in a better mood now.

Movie Quotes

I cannot get enough of quotes. I use them in my classroom. I post them on my bathroom mirror. I recite them in normal conversation. Movie quotes are some of my favorites. I thought I would share quotes from the movies in the previous post.

Drive Me Crazy

Chase: She's the kinda girl that will call you on your bullshit. She isn't afraid to dance and she offers to pay. She doesn't decide before a date whether or not she's gonna kiss you; she's not earnest, yet she's not completely ironic either... She orders dessert and she can be ready in ten minutes.

Mr. Hammond: Are you stoned? You can tell me you know, I'd be cool.
Chase: Yeah I know you'd be cool.
Mr. Hammond: What is that supposed to mean?
Chase: It means I've read your yearbook. "Onward through the fog. Light up and party, have sex be free. We're the class of '73."
Mr. Hammond: Are you stoned?
Chase: Dad, until you come in here and you see a black light and a felt Led Zepplin poster, rest easy.

Lord of the Rings

Gandalf:  Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.

Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in the world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.

Gimli: Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?

Burlesque

Christina Aguilera: How much to Los Angeles?
Ticket Guy: One way or round trip?
Christina Aguilera: Are you kidding right?

Day #8

Three Films

1. Drive Me Crazy

It is such a typical teenage movie made in 90's. It is totally mindless entertainment. I am totally okay with that.

2. Lord of the Rings

Really, with my Harry Potter fastination you didn't see Lord of the Rings coming. It is such a good trilogy. Even those who do not like fantasy things would enjoy the movies.

3. Burlesque

I love Christina Aguliar in this movie. She is rockin' it. I love the music and the acting. Good movie!

She Huffed And She Puffed...

And nothin' came out. This has been the story of my life, lately. I have been sick for 2 weeks now and it is getting a little out of hand. I am all congested but I can't get it out for some reason. (probably too much information, ha) My dad had finally had enough of my coughing and decided a home remedy would work. Whiskey mixed with my cough syrup. Yes, it is as disgusting as it sounds. I have stopped coughing though so I'm not exactly knocking it. I hope you all have a fabulous Monday. :-)

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

Over Thanksgiving my grandparents got IPhones because they liked ours. I kept trying to show them how to use all the cool features and they would get frustrated. I don't think they realized how awesome their phones were until tonight. It is my Papa's birthday and I FaceTimed him. It was hilarious. He tried to put the phone to his ear at first till he realized I was on the screen. He was so excited to see my face and to be able to talk to me. That look on his face was worth the money I spent on the phone.
Technology is neat sometimes and today it really was. Steve Jobs, thank you for allowing my family to remain close. And here is a picture that sums up the experience. :-)
