Except this time it isn't the funny version.......
One of my students had been absent for 2 weeks.....yes, 2 WEEKS.
She had finally turned in her makeup work the previous Friday. On Friday, she comes asking for her grade. I tell her
me-"I don't have an accurate grade because I haven't graded all your work yet."
her-"I really need that grade miss."
me- "Well, I am sorry. (pointing to the massive pile of papers to be graded) As you can see I have a huge stack and I am slowly making my way through it all"
her- "Isn't it your job to grade our papers?"
me- (I am going to kill a child!!!) "No, it is my job to teach you. Which, I have done all week and haven't had the time to grade your makeup work."
UFIWIUBWUIRVNWNCVWIE
The nerve of that kiddo. She really thought that it was my job to grade her MAKEUP work in a timely fashion. I understand, that it had been a week but it is the end of the 6 weeks. I have huge stacks of things to grade and only a 45 minute planning period to do it!!!!!
Most of the time, I love my students. On Friday, I wanted to bang my head against the wall!

I'm A Pusher
One of my favorite students told another teacher today that I was a pusher.
Student- "Miss, please don't tell her I am not working hard in here. She will be so mad at me."
Teacher-"I thought you liked Ms. W.?"
Student- "I do, but she wants me to do my best everyday. It is hard."
Teacher-"That means she is a good teacher and she cares about you."
Student- "I know, she tells me all the time she cares."
AWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I really do push my students hard. They are expected to do their best at all times. This student in particular is very smart but needs pushing to do his work. I keep tabs on him and call him on his bs, which I think is why he likes me. No one else in his life expects anything of him, except for me. I intend to keep pushing him to greatness.
It was a good day to be a teacher!!!

My List
I was in training today from 8-4. It was a long day. I learned a bunch of new things and have tons of new ideas. I am actually trying some new ones tomorrow. I am teaching them about types of government. I am going to make them make post-its and then write the type on one and then the definition underneath it. I want it to be all colorful. It will be an easy way to study and bright. Friday, I am going to give each student a scenario of a type of government and they will have to go to a corner of the room with their type. Critical thinking right there!!! I hope it goes well. I will be sure to let you know.
Feeling... happy!!!!
Thinking about... life in general and my man. I want to know where it is all going but too scared to ask.
Seriously considering... going to bed at 9.
Excited about... Friday and Saturday. I get to see the man on Friday and go to the aquarium on Saturday!
Worried about... my students passing the EOC (End of Course) test.
Craving... nothing really. My dad cooked steaks for dinner.
Watching... ESPN, I am on the living room couch and obviously the remote is not under my control.
Loving... that I have a man that I am crazy about and that I love my job.
Hating... the uncertainty in my love life.
Busy... planning my lesson for tomorrow and volleyball.
Counting down for... Friday and Homecoming at my Alma mater!
Looking forward to... going to the Dallas Aquarium and my cousins birthday party next weekend.
Lusting after... Jimmy Choo shoes. I know, totally in my teacher salary budget. lol
Reading... blogs and I just finished The Power of Six
Hoping... all my new teaching ideas don't crash and burn tomorrow. I am trying to think outside of the box.
